[Solved]: NameCheap cPanel Error: Your IP Address Has Changed. Please Log In Again


As a webmaster, you may have ran into the cPanel error message being generated when you attempt to login to cPanel from from NameCheap. 

Even when trying to access cPanel directly, the error:



Your IP address has changed. Please log in again.

Having trouble logging into cPanel? You can also log into cPanel via your Namecheap account.


Keeps popping up.


After successfully logging in to cPanel, you are automatically logged out after a few seconds and you are asked to login again.


You may also keep seeing other serious errors like:

Error: The API request failed with the following error: 401 - Unauthorized. These errors make cPanel almost unusable. Even icons and images fail to load properly and scripts are not working either.

I don't know if this error is common with other hosting providers. But as a user of cPanel for years, I only noticed it with NameCheap. I first noticed it while working on a client's website over a year ago and it made it very difficult accessing the cPanel. I later discovered he was using NameCheap Easy-WP. I ran into the same problem again while trying to migrate a couple of websites to NameCheap then I thought many users hosting their websites with NameCheap hosting may be facing the same challenge. After fixing it and gaining access to cPanel, I decided to share how I overcame the challenge in order to help as many people as may be fixing the same issue.


The first thing I did was to contact NameCheap support. From them, I learnt the issue was from my ISP which kept changing my I.P. address. I was using MTN at the time. Though I used other Mobile network providers too, it didn't solve the issue for me.


You may try accessing cPanel again via this proxy link I received from Namecheap support:

If using the above URL does not solve the dynamic IP issue with your ISP, you can try to login to cPanel via an incognito tab of your web browser. That may solve the problem.


Since we know the issue is from a dynamic IP from the ISP, any method that can make the IP static should do the magic.


Here is the method that worked for me though. For you, simply changing your internet service provider, logging in through the proxy link above, or accessing cPanel incognito may fix it for you.


I used a VPN to gain access to cPanel. I mean I gained a stable uninterrupted access cPanel.


If you have any VPN already, you can try it. It may help to fix it.


Some VPNs are not free to use though. The VPN I used offers 10GB free monthly access and you may want to use that too.

That notwithstanding, NameCheap is one of the most competitive and cheap hosting providers out there. If you can find your way through their cPanel issue, then you should be fine.
