MTN Pulse Points: How To Earn, Check And Use Data Points On MTN

As a way of giving back to its customers, Nigerian telecommunication giant MTN has introduced what is known as 'Data Points'.

Before now, you may have seen an option to subscribe using points while executing a data subscription request on the MTN network.

In the same way as you can make use of your airtime balance to subscribe to data on MTN, so also can you use your earned points to carry out regular data subscription on MTN.

How to Earn MTN Data Points

So how do earn the MTN Data Points.

As I pointed out earlier, MTN points are allocated to loyal subscribers on the MTN network. So when you buy a service such as make a data subscription on MTN, the network gives you back points. It's more like a cash back in points on the network.

Don't forget that MTN also has a similar bonus package in place that rewards subscribers for airtime top ups (10%) of top up value which could be used for local calls to all Nigerian networks.

If you are not earning points after data subscription on MTN, it is probably because you are not on MTN Pulse. 

The MTN Data Points earned is called MTN Pulse Points, and it is given back to MTN subscribers who are on the MTN Pulse.

To join pulse, dial *406#. Select option 1 to migrate. This will give you the privilege to earn pulse points and other benefits like Nightlife, Goody bag, etc.

How to Check Your MTN Data Points

To check your MTN Data Points, dial *406*7#.

In the prompt, enter '1' to view your points.

You should then be able to see your accumulated points and the expiration date.

Note that you are expected to make use of the earned points before expiry else, you'll lose all your accumulated points.

How to Use Your Earned Data Points

There are two ways to use your earned points. One of them is to choose the option that you'd like to pay with points rather than airtime while carrying out data subscription on MTN.

The second alternative, is by dialing *406*7#

Then choose option 2 - Redeem points.

From here, you can choose to exchange your points with a data bundle, nightlife bundle or Instagram/Tiktok bundle.
