How To Unfreeze Your Frozen Opay Merchant Account
How To Unfreeze Your Frozen Opay Merchant Account
What does it mean for an Opay account to be frozen?
That your Opay account is frozen, is tantamount to your account being blocked, but the simple difference is that a frozen account is a type of limitation placed on your account that prevents your account from making any outbound transaction.
What this means is that, if your account is frozen, you can still make deposits into the account, but you can not make any form of withdrawal such as transfers to bank account or to other Opay users' accounts, bill payments, or Owealth enrolment.
As an Opay merchant, your merchant account can become frozen when you fail to meet the transaction quota Opay has set for merchants.
Generally, as long as your account is connected to an Opay terminal, you are expected to meet certain transaction limits/threshold daily.
On the premise that your account no longer meet up with this limit, your account is at a risk of being frozen.
What Freezes an Opay Merchant Account?
When you fail to complete any transaction on your terminal for a consecutive period of 4 days, your account is at the risk of being frozen.
When you no longer meet Opay's daily transaction limits, your account runs at a risk of being frozen.
Now that your Opay account has been frozen, what is the way forward?
There are three simple ways to unfreeze a frozen Opay merchant account.
How to Unfreeze Your Opay Account
To unfreeze your frozen account, you can follow any of these steps to fully remove the limitation placed on your account.
- Usually the reason for the freeze will be stated for your account if you tap on the indicated 'frozen' button at the top right corner of your screen. If your account was frozen because your terminal made no transactions, you are to restore full functionality of your account by making five POS transactions within a day, and the total transaction amount should be more than #50,000.
- If you no longer wish to use the POS, you can return the POS, and Opay will restore full functionality of your account
- On the ground that you are not meeting the transaction limits, or you are not making transactions because your terminal was damaged, you can replace the POS and begin making transactions to restore and unfreeze your frozen account. As soon as you meet the transaction limits specified in step 1 above, your account will be unfrozen and you can make transfers and withdraw money from your account again.
Hope this helps you unfreeze and restore access to your frozen Opay account.
